Som Bahadur Kumal (born May 26, 1992 ) is a Nepalese athlete who specializes in the 400 and 800 meter run .

Athletic career

Som Bahadur Kumal gained his first international experience at the South Asian Games 2016 in Guwahati , where he finished sixth over 800 meters in 1: 55.02 minutes. The following year he took part in the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar over 400 and 800 meters , but retired there with 49.20 s and 1: 52.56 min in the first round. In 2018 he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time and was eliminated there with a new national record of 1: 50.25 minutes in advance. In 2019 he reached the semi-finals at the Asian Championships in Doha over 800 meters and was eliminated there with 1: 53.22 minutes. Then he reached the final at the Military World Games in Wuhan , but could not finish his run there. At the beginning of December he won the bronze medal at the South Asian Games in Kathmandu in 1: 51.44 minutes behind Indunil Herath from Sri Lanka and the Indian Mohammed Afsal .
