background

Penny, a little orphan , has never been adopted and is therefore depressed. While the song is playing, she looks out of the orphanage, a converted ship, at the landscape and rocks her teddy bear to sleep while Bernard and Bianca enter the ship. In the scene, Bambi and his mother make a cameo .

The song can be heard off-screen, a stylistic device that has been used in a Disney film for the first time since Bambi (1942). Otherwise, in the films, the characters sing the song.

The song also appeared on the soundtrack of the same name released by Disneyland Records .

The song was nominated for "Best Song" at the 1978 Academy Awards, but lost to You Light Up My Life from the soundtrack for Star of My Life . It wasn't the only Disney song nominated that year. Candle on the Water from Elliot, the smile monster was also nominated.
