Carol Connors (born on 13. November 1940 in New Brunswick , New Jersey as Annette Kleinbard ) is an American singer-songwriter . Her best-known work is her vocal contribution to The Teddy Bears ' single To Know Him Is to Love Him . She also wrote the song Someone's Waiting for You from the cartoon Bernard and Bianca with Sammy Fain and Ayn Robbins and Gonna Fly Now from Rocky with Ayn Robbins and Bill Conti , for each of which she received an Oscar nomination.

Life

Annette Kleinbard grew up in Los Angeles. Her parents were Polish Jews. She had lost many relatives during the Holocaust . She attended Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, California.

Together with Phil Spector and Marshall Lieb , she founded the pop trio The Teddy Bears . She sang the lead on the number one single To Know Him Is to Love Him . After an album in 1959 and other singles, the band broke up again.

She later changed her name to Carol Connors. She made a name for herself as a singer-songwriter and wrote songs such as Hey Little Cobra for The Rip Chords , With You I'm Born Again for Billy Preston and Syreeta Wright and For All Mankind on Guendalina Cariaggi's debut album .

She made a name for herself primarily as a songwriter for film songs. In 1967 she wrote Book of Love for the beach film Catalina Caper , three songs for Bernard and Bianca - Die Mäusepolizei and It's Wrong for Me to Love You for Butterfly - The blonde butterfly (1982). She also wrote 15 Films about Madonna for A & Es , a special about the artist, the song Madonna in the Mirror and three songs for the pseudo-docu-romance Courting Condi .

She received an Oscar nomination for Someone's Waiting for You from the cartoon Bernard and Bianca - Die Mäusepolizei and Gonna Fly Now from Rocky . It's Wrong for Me to Love You , which was nominated for a Golden Raspberry , was not so successful .

In 1999 she was honored with a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars .

In 2011, at the age of 71, she made a parachute jump followed by a concert to draw attention to the Wounded Warrior Project .
