CapitalG (formerly Google Capital ) is a venture capital company and a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc. Founded in 2013, the company focuses on larger technology companies in the growth phase and invests more profitably than strategically for Google .
In addition to investing in capital, CapitalG's approach includes giving the companies in the portfolio access to Google's people, knowledge and culture to help grow the companies and guide them.
Since 2013, CapitalG has invested in over 25 companies, including in the areas of Big Data , FinTech , security and e-learning .
history
The mutual fund started operations in 2013 but was not officially launched until February 19, 2014. The company operates out of the Googleplex in Mountain View and has an annual investment target of approximately $ 300 million. Following the restructuring of Google LLC by Alphabet Inc. , Google Capital was renamed CapitalG on November 4, 2016.
