Son Moro / Platja de Sant Llorenç , more rarely also Estanyol d'en Roig , describes a section of the 1,800 meter long beach of Cala Millor in the east of the Balearic island of Mallorca . It is located in the eastern part of the municipality of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar .
Location and description
The name Son Moro refers to a location on the bay of Son Servera ( Badia de Son Servera ), a larger sea inlet in the east of Mallorca in the Llevant region between the Cap des Pinar and the Punta de n'Amer peninsula . Due to the expansion of the development of the tourist resort Cala Millor to the south in the last decades of the 20th century, Son Moro was taken over by this. Today only the Es Carreró de Son Moro road, the Camí de Son Moro street and a shop that bears the name remind of the former place where the Parc de la Mar was laid out in the 1980s .
The 600 meter long beach section of Son Moro is located between the bays of Cala Millor in the north and the southern Cala Nau . It stretches from Parc de la Mar to the level of Carrer de Borneo at the transition to the beach of Cala Nau . Son Moro beach is part of Platja de Sant Llorenç , which is named after the municipality of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, and which also includes the southern section of Cala Millor . Like the name Son Moro , the name Platja de Sant Llorenç is increasingly taking a back seat to the general name “Cala Millor Beach”.
The beach of Son Moro with its fine sand is similar to the southern section of Cala Millor , but has some flat rock slabs on the water and is a little narrower , especially towards Cala Nau . On the beach, with daily cleaning, loungers and parasols are available for hire. Seagrass deposits are rather rare and are usually removed.
Behind the beach is the southern part of the beach promenade of Cala Millor, the Passeig de la Mar . A multi-storey hotel building is lined up next to the next. There are no shops here, like north of the Parc de la Mar. A green area was laid out between the beach and the hotels, a lawn with a few trees, which is interrupted at regular intervals by spur roads leading to the beach. At Parc de la Mar , a large circular square, is the pavilion of the tourist information (Informatión Turística) of the municipality of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar.
Access
Coming from the direction of the main road MA-4023 along the coast between Cala Bona and Porto Cristo , two streets lead to the beach of Son Moro . On the one hand, there is the northern Es Carreró de Son Moro , which ends behind a roundabout as Avinguda Badia de Llevant at Parc de la Mar. It is also possible to get to the southern end of the beach and Cala Nau via Avinguda de les Palmeres and Carrer Baladres through the neighboring town of Sa Coma .
