Son of Aurelius is an American technical death metal band from Santa Cruz , California that was formed in 2009.
history
In 2009 singer Josh Miller, guitarist Cary Geare, drummer Spencer Edwards and bassist Max Zigman founded the band Son of Aurelius. At the beginning they recorded three songs. The first recordings took place in the Castle Ultimate Studios of the producer Zack Ohr, who also produced albums for All Shall Perish , Suffocation and Decrepit Birth . After recording these three songs, the decision was made to make a real album. While recording this album, guitarist Chase Fraser, who worked for Animosity , joined the band. The band was complete and the album was recorded again in the Castle Ultimate Studios by Zack ears. The album was mastered by Alan Douches, who already worked with bands like Mastodon , Shadows Fall , Cannibal Corpse and The Black Dahlia Murder . Finally, the album The Farthest Reaches was released on April 13, 2010 on Good Fight Music . After this release, the band focused on playing live concerts.
style
Stylistically, the band mainly deals with Greek mythology . They use technical and progressive elements, but also elements of brutal death metal . Melodic elements are also included in the songs.
