The sun sanctuary of Raneferef is a previously undiscovered ancient Egyptian temple structure from the time of the 5th dynasty , which was built under the king ( pharaoh ) Raneferef (Neferefre), who lived around 2460 to 2455 BC. Ruled. Presumably, the construction remained unfinished due to the short reign of Raneferef.
Written mentions
The Raneferef sanctuary is only known from written sources. These are, on the one hand, two unrolled seals from Abusir and, on the other hand, a series of titles in the Mastaba des Ti in Saqqara . In the Raneferef sanctuary, however, Ti only held an administrative and no priestly office, while he held both offices in the solar sanctuaries of Sahure and Neferirkare . Apart from him, no other officials or priests of the Raneferef sanctuary are known. It can therefore be assumed that the cult operation under Ranferef's successor Niuserre ceased and the building itself was probably demolished. It is possible that Niuserre had his own solar sanctuary built on the same site.
