Sonthesan Sua

Sadet Chaofa Jaya Sonthesan Sua (Sudhisara Suriya, also called Poh; * 1797 in Vientiane , † in the 19th century in Bangkok ) was minister of war and senior military in Vientiane .

Life

Sonthesan Sua was the eldest son of the last king of Vientiane, Anouvong (r. 1805-1828), and was the Royal Corps of educated in Bangkok. Between 1825 and 1828 he headed the Vientiane War Ministry. He was in command of the Vientiane armed forces involved in the lost battle of Khorat .

Between October 1827 and June 1828 he accompanied his father to Annam at the court of Huế . The Siamese seized the capital Vientiane in 1828 , captured many members of the royal family, including Sonthesan Sua, and took them to Bangkok on October 23, 1828.

Sonthesan Sua had a son, Prince ( Sadet Chao ) Subaya (So Pha), who was married to Nang Chandra. These in turn had a son, Prince ( Angka Kumara Somdet ) Bajrathunga ( Ong Kum Somdet Bac Thong). He was born in Bangkok and trained at Wat Si Saket , returned to Laos in 1878 and initiated a revolt against the French administration of French Indochina in Hua Phan (Sam Nua) in 1895 ; he died after 1901.
