Sophia Krause (born January 31, 1997 ) is a German rower.

Career

In 2016, Sophia Krause competed for the German rowing association for the first time at the U23 World Rowing Championships . In Rotterdam she formed the lightweight quad scull together with Samantha Nesajda , Kathrin Morbe and Lonie Neuhaus . They reached the final over the prelim and won the bronze medal behind the boats from Italy and Switzerland. The following year she went back to the U23 rowing world championships. This time it was used in the lightweight single. She reached the A-final and took fourth place behind Marieke Keijser from the Netherlands, Clara Guerra from Italy and Nicole van Wyk from South Africa.

In 2018 she competed for the third and last time at the U23 World Championships in rowing . Together with Katrin Volk , Sophia Krause formed the lightweight double scull at the 2018 U23 rowing world championships . Together they were able to reach the A-final and secured the silver medal behind the Italian boat and in front of the British boat. In 2019, Sophia Krause made her debut in the Rowing World Cup alongside Katrin Thoma in Poznan . The two formed the second German lightweight double scull. They missed the A-final and finished the competition in the B-final in fifth place, so they finished eleventh in the final bill.

At the third event of the Rowing World Cup , which took place in Rotterdam , Sophia Krause formed the lightweight four-four together with Cara Pakszies , Ladina Meier and Katrin Thoma . In addition to the German boats, there were only one Chinese and one Dutch boat at the start. In the decisive race, they clearly took second place behind the boat from China. She and Katrin Thoma were nominated by the DRV for the 2019 World Rowing Championships in Linz . Together they formed the lightweight double scull. They could only qualify for the C final, where they finished the race in fourth place. In the final accounts, they took 16th place.
