Sophie von Solms-Laubach, later Margravine of Brandenburg

Sophie von Solms-Laubach (born May 15, 1594 in Laubach , † May 16, 1651 in Plötzkau ).

Sophie von Solms-Laubach was married to Margrave Joachim Ernst von Brandenburg-Ansbach since 1612 . Her parents were Count Johann Georg I von Solms-Laubach (1547–1600) and Margarethe von Schönburg-Glauchau (1554–1606).

After her husband's death in 1625, she took over the guardianship and regency of her underage son Friedrich in the margraviate of Brandenburg-Ansbach . After he died in the Battle of Nördlingen in 1634, shortly after he came of age, she continued this activity for her son Albrecht until he came of age in 1639. In exercising the regency she was supported by Friedrich zu Solms-Rödelheim until 1639 .
