Sophus Erhard "Krølben" Nielsen (born March 15, 1888 in Copenhagen , † August 6, 1963 there ) was a Danish football player . He was the first player to score ten goals in an official senior international match .

career

Nielsen played for most of his career at BK Frem København . Between 1910 and 1911 he and his brother Karlo Nielsen were on the pitch for Holstein Kiel . Both were the club's first foreign players.

For the Danish national team , the attacker completed a total of 20 games between 1908 and 1919 and scored 16 goals. He shot ten of them on October 22, 1908 in the semi-finals of the Olympic tournament in a 17-1 win against France . The German Gottfried Fuchs was able to set this goal record four years later at the next Olympic tournament, both were only exceeded in 2001 by the Australian Archie Thompson .

Nielsen won the silver medal at the 1908 Olympic tournament (0-2 in the final against the United Kingdom). Four years later at the Olympic tournament in Stockholm he won silver again and had to admit defeat to the British in the final (2: 4).
