The Sopro Bauchemie GmbH is a leading manufacturer of construction chemicals in Europe . The core competence are the products for tile laying . It emerged from the Dyckerhoff Group and has been part of the Italian Mapei Group since 2002 .

history
The company has its origins in the Wiesbaden main plant of the German cement manufacturer Dyckerhoff. Here, before the Second World War, the first chemical building materials based on cement were manufactured in the special products department. The name Sopro is also derived from the special products department.
Dyckerhoff Sopro GmbH was founded in 1985. With this step, Dyckerhoff AG united large parts of the fine mortar activities in one company.
In 1989, the completion of a modern logistics center with several thousand square meters of storage and picking area on the Dyckerhoff site in the Wiesbaden district of Mainz-Amöneburg .
In 1994, Sopro Polska Sp. Z oo was founded. The expanded production facility with a significantly increased production capacity for special construction chemical products was also put into operation. A production facility of its own was set up in Poland by 1997.
In 1998, all fine mortar activities of the Dyckerhoff Group were finally bundled in Sopro as the management company. Today's Sopro Bauchemie GmbH in Austria was also acquired, including the commissioning of the production facility in Feldbach . In addition, with the acquisition of the Italian company CerCol SpA with administration and production facilities in Sassuolo , Italy and the Spanish subsidiary CerCol Iberia SL in Onda , Spain, further European expansion takes place.
Following this line, the sales activities in Switzerland were expanded from 2001 onwards, with the establishment of a branch in Thun.
In 2002 the multinational Mapei Group from Italy acquired the Sopro fine mortar activities. Since then the company name has been Sopro Bauchemie GmbH.
The expansion into other European countries was consistently pursued. This was followed by the establishment of Sopro Hungária Kft. In 2003, Sopro CZ sro in 2005 and those of Sopro Nederland BV and OOO Sopro RUS in 2006. The activities of OOO Sopro RUS were merged in 2009 with the Russian Mapei.

Sopro Construction Chemicals has three production facilities. These are located in Feldbach in Austria, in the municipality of Sitkówka-Nowiny in Poland and in Wiesbaden . Sopro Construction Chemicals has been certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001 since 1994 . In July 2011, Sopro Construction Chemicals was awarded the Hoppenstedt Top Rating Seal .
The company's actions are governed by the following principles.
- The express commitment to the specialist trade. Sopro can only be purchased through specialist retailers, not through direct sales, and not through hardware stores. In the hardware stores, products from Sopro Bauchemie GmbH are sold under the brand name "Racofix", for example in the Bauhaus .
- The sustainability of entrepreneurial activity. This is expressed, among other things, in the 2008 Ökoprofit award, various additional certificates and joining the “100 companies for climate protection” initiative.
- The considerable investments in our own research and new product developments.
The range of products offered includes an extensive range of building materials for laying ceramic tiles, natural stone and artificial stone, composite seals, rapid screed systems, concrete substitute products, flash cements ( Racofix ), fillers and basement seals , as well as a comprehensive program for gardening and landscaping.
The technology newsletter "4 Pages - The 4x4 of Construction Chemistry" is published quarterly.
Wiesbaden planners and experts seminar
Under the leadership of Sopro Construction Chemicals, the nationwide known Wiesbaden planners and experts seminar is organized regularly. The topics here range from swimming pool construction to kitchen and hotel areas to gala construction.
