Sorin Lerescu
Sorin Lerescu (born November 14, 1953 in Craiova , Dolj district ) is a Romanian composer .
Life
Lerescu studied at the National Music University of Bucharest with Tiberiu Olah and Anatol Vieru and then with Ton de Leeuw , Brian Ferneyhough and Morton Feldman .
In 1982 he founded the group for new music TRAIECT. Since 1997 he has been artistic director of the Întîlnirile Muzicii Noi festival in Brăila, which he founded . Between 2003 and 2013 President of the Romanian Department of the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM). He is also a member of the Société des auteurs, compositeurs et éditeurs de musique (SACEM).
From 1983 he headed the music section of the People's University "Ioan I. Dalles" in Bucharest and taught counterpoint, harmony and music analysis at the Dinu Lipatti Music School . Since 2002 he has taught counterpoint and composition at the Faculty of Art, Spiru Haret University in Bucharest.
In 2001 he gave a composition seminar at the Istituto Musicale "Achille Peri" in Reggio nell'Emilia . In 2003 he was a member of the international jury for the composition prize of the Fondazione Valentino Bucchi in Rome , where he took on a master class in composition. Member of the international jury of the ISCM-CASH Young Composer Award 2006 in Stuttgart (Germany). President of the International Jury for Composition in Plovdiv (Bulgaria) (2008) and member of the International Jury for Composition in Sofia (Bulgaria) (2010, 2013) and Curitiba (Brazil) (2011).
In 2004 and 2009 he was the artistic director of Săptămâna Internațională a Muzicii Noi in Bucharest. Between 2005 and 2012 he directed the international festival MERIDIAN, Zilele SNR-SIMC in Bucharest.
