Soufrière

Soufrière is a municipality on the southwest coast of St. Lucia and the capital of the district of the same name . Originally it was also the capital of the island state.

In Soufrière there are sulfur springs from a no longer active volcano . The Caldera des Qualibou with the two striking mountains of Gros Piton and Petit Piton is a nature reserve called Pitons . In the Diamond Botanical Gardens a watercourse and the sulfur mass have mixed and feed the " Diamond Falls ", as well as the mineral baths that King Louis XVI. let build. The black sand beaches of Anse Chastenet bear witness to the island's volcanic origin .
