Sound of Silence is a song by the Australian singer Dami Im . It is best known as Australia's entry to the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest .
Background and publication
In 2015 , Australia took part in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time at the invitation of the European Broadcasting Union . At that time, Guy Sebastian represented the country with the song Tonight Again . He finished fifth in the final on May 23, 2015 with 196 points. On November 17, 2015, the Australian broadcaster Special Broadcasting Service confirmed that the country will also compete in 2016. On March 3, 2016, the broadcaster confirmed that the singer Dami Im will represent Australia. The song was presented to the public for the first time a week later on March 10, 2016, one day before its scheduled release. It was written by Anthony Egizii and David Musumeci.
