Music style and lyrics

Brian Way from Allmusic heard sound parallels to Black Metal on the album. The distorted guitars would bring back memories of My Bloody Valentine and Jesus . The guitars have a majestic sound, while the use of drums has been reduced to a minimum. The repetitive passages in the songs have a hypnotic effect. The texts are all in French. Although the album is heavily geared towards the sound of the electric guitar , it still manages completely without solos . According to metal.de , the band has moved away from Black Metal, which could still be heard on Le Secret . In addition to the very dominant electric guitar sounds, the occasional use of acoustic guitars , arpeggios , picking , double bass and blast beats is also characteristic. metal.de compared the playing of the drums with that of Amesoeurs , while Paut's vocals were compared with that of Coldplay's Chris Martin . Paut also sounds strongly influenced by Dream Pop and Slowcore . According to Lars Strutz from Powermetal.de , the album sounds dreamy despite the black metal riffs . This is mainly caused by the gentle, clear vocals and the mostly slow drumming. In addition, slow song passages that would remind of Opeth would be interspersed . The album is "continuous calm in the black metal thunderstorm". Prophecy Productions himself described the music as a mixture of Slowdive , Yann Tiersen and Burzum , whereby Paut left his black metal roots behind. According to Gunnar Sauermann from Metal Hammer , Paut's album is “a continuation of the hypnotic, sinister monotony of his mini CD LE SECRET (2005), whose musical model is to be found in Burzum [...] [T] he principles used by Burzum for the dark effect [reverse Alcest] into the exact opposite ”. The conductivity of the album would be reminiscent of the later works of Motorpsycho .

Reviews

Brian Way of Allmusic was impressed by the sound of the album that would take the listener on a journey. The listener feels feelings of longing, nostalgia, triumph and blissful peace, even without understanding the text. Way awarded four out of five possible points. Also metal.de praised these points, but ultimately turned out that, although the part Prophecy Productions was advertised, a novelty to offer, on the album there was nothing to hear what not Cocteau Twins , Mojave 3 , and Sophia had already played well. metal.de awarded eight out of ten points. Lars Strutz from Powermetal.de also liked the album, but stated: “Some people will love this combination, others will just scratch their heads in amazement. Since there is a lack of grunt vocals or really hard, constant banging , one cannot speak of a symbiosis like with OPETH, but of continuous calm in the black metal thunderstorm. ”Gunnar Sauermann also rated the album largely positively, but criticized the singing melodious, but too colorless in the long run. In addition, “the constant whispering loses its strength over time. There is no contrast with the darkness ”.
