The Sowiniec Ridge (Polish Pasmo Sowińca ) in Poland is a mountain ridge in the eastern part of the Kraków Gate in the Northern Carpathian Mountains . It is a southeastern extension of the Krakow-Czestochowa Jura , specifically the Tenczyn Ridge . The ridge lies north of the Vistula and for the most part in the urban area of Krakow ( Dzielnica VII Zwierzyniec ) between the Rudawa rivers in the north and the Vistula in the south.

The ridge consists of two massifs divided by the Przegorzalska Przełęcz pass :

  • Sowiniec (358 m above sea level) in the east
  • Sikornik (333 m above sea level - also called Mount of Saint Bronisława ) in the west

The ridge is heavily forested with the Wolski forest . There are vineyards on its southwestern slopes . It is part of the Bielany-Tyniec Landscape Protection Park with numerous nature reserves that serve the Kraków people as a recreational area:

To the west is the baroque Kraków Camaldolese monastery and to the east is the Piłsudski Hill and Kościuszko Hill and the Kraków Zoological Garden .
