Space rock
Space rock is a genre of rock music . The term was coined in the late 1960s and early 1970s mainly by bands from the progressive and psychedelic rock scene such as Pink Floyd and Hawkwind .
Space rock belongs to psychedelic music and tries to use repetitive patterns, e.g. Example in the form of hard rock -like riffs and "spacey" Tone, a futuristic atmosphere and a certain feeling of weightlessness to produce. This is mainly done through the use of synthesizers , but also with instruments that are less common for rock music, such as wind or string instruments. In space rock, texts are often processed that deal with space, science fiction or fantasy . Elaborate light shows when bands of the genre perform live are not uncommon. The band Pink Floyd stood out in particular, experimenting with all sorts of optical effects at concerts in their early phase.
