Founding history
The first activities to establish a savings bank in Bludenz go back to 1821. In 1892, the Bludenzer Savings and Advances Association was founded in the legal form of a cooperative as the first financial institution for the Bludenz district. In 1923, its assets and liabilities were taken over by the Bludenzer Spar-, Handels- und Gewerbekasse . On September 16, 1938, the city of Bludenz under Mayor Toni Hutter ordered the establishment of a community savings bank under the liability of the city of Bludenz. On October 1, 1939, the Sparkasse der Stadt Bludenz became the legal successor of Bludenzer Spar-, Handels- und Gewerbekasse reg. Gene. mbH . Thus there has been an uninterrupted business succession since 1892.
Structural development of the main institute
From Christmas 1928 to the end of 1958, the Bludenzer Spar-, Handels- und Gewerbekasse and the Sparkasse of the City of Bludenz had their headquarters on the ground floor of the district administration building . After the purchase of the Hotel Montafonerhof in 1954, a new main building was built on this site, which was occupied in December 1958. In 1975 the savings bank building was completely redesigned. From 1995 to 1997 the main facility in Bludenz was rebuilt and expanded considerably.
