On December 1, 1899, the Sparkasse of the township of Kitzbühel started operations in a shop in the municipal building, after approval from the Tyrolean state parliament and the kk governorate had been granted . The Stadtsparkasse was available to customers twice a week for their financial transactions. In 1912 total deposits rose from 460,000 to 2,675,000 kroner . The Sunday service held until 1912 was discontinued and the counters of the Sparkasse opened daily. In 1920 the deposit level was already 2.6 billion crowns due to high inflation. In 1925 the Schilling currency was introduced with an exchange ratio of 10,000 paper crowns to 1 Schilling. In 1928, the Sparkasse met the demands of domestic and foreign visitors to the famous winter sports and summer resort with the introduction of currency exchange and checks. In 1938 the first branch was set up in a 25 m² room at the “Bären” inn in St. Johann in Tirol . As a result of the consolidation of the economy after the Second World War , the people's confidence in the shilling gradually increased again from 1959 onwards. The deposit level soared. Good foreign exchange and foreign currency transactions were also ensured due to increasing tourism. In 1962, after the opening of the main branch in the Vorderstadt, the Sparkasse established itself on Kitzbühel's busiest shopping street. Further expansions followed in 1970 with the opening of a branch in Kirchberg , 1978 in Fieberbrunn , 1979 in Westendorf , 1984 in Hopfgarten im Brixental and Kössen and 1991 in Brixen im Thale .

The newly created pension and asset center s-Capital was opened in the following month. In 2009 a new branch was opened in Kössen .

The newly established office at Kaiserstraße 36 in St. Johann in Tirol started operations in November 2004. It is located in the catchment area of the “shopping mile” along Salzburger Strasse. The building is a mix of the revitalized Kratzerbäck farm, whose foundations were laid in the 17th century, and a modern extension.
