The Sparkes Bay is a side bay of Vincennes Bay on Budd Coast of the East Antarctic Wilke country . It lies between the Mitchell Peninsula in the north and the peninsula Robinson Ridge and the Windmill Islands belonging Odbert Island in the south.
It was first mapped using aerial photographs taken by the United States Navy in 1947 and 1948 during Operation Highjump and Operation Windmill . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1963 after Lieutenant Robert S. Sparkes of the US Navy, military chief of Wilkes Station in 1958.
