Special Media SDL is a German LGBTI magazine and online media publisher for the LGBTI target group ( lesbian , gay , bisexual , trans * and inter * ). The publisher's best-known publication is the Berlin city magazine Siegessäule , which has existed since 1984 and is the city magazine with the highest circulation in Berlin and throughout Germany . It appears monthly and with an average circulation of around 52,000 it is distributed free of charge to around 700 locations in Berlin.
In 2016, the Victory Column was also available in newsagents outside Berlin for a price of € 3.50.
In addition, the publisher L-MAG appears - the magazine for lesbians , which has existed since 2003 and is available nationwide as well as in Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg in the magazine trade as well as by subscription and as e-paper.
Special Media SDL was founded in May 2012 by the two journalists Gudrun Fertig and Manuela Kay . They took over with the new publishing house Medien of Jackwerth Verlag , whose namesake Reiner Jackwerth, who has since died, retired professionally. Both had previously worked as editors-in-chief at Jackwerth Verlag for a long time and are now managing directors of Special Media SDL.
The company headquarters are in Berlin-Kreuzberg .
The publisher sees itself as a classic journalistic special-interest publisher with a clear distinction between editorial content and advertising sold , as well as a clear commitment to the values of independent journalism made to the best of its knowledge .
