Gudrun Fertig (* 1969 in Regensburg ) is a German publisher , journalist and economist . She is committed to lesbian , feminist and LGBT issues. Together with Manuela Kay she runs the publishing house for media for the LGBT target group in Germany, the Special Media SDL in Berlin . The publisher publishes u. a. the magazines Siegessäule - We are queer Berlin and L-Mag - the magazine for lesbians.

Life

After her graduation she began in 1988 with a teaching degree for German , history and social studies , but this broke off. In 1992 she trained as a retail saleswoman and then worked in this profession for two years. In 1995 she began studying economics in Regensburg .

In 1996 she moved to Berlin to study economics with a focus on international financial markets and taxes at the Free University and to obtain a degree in economics (2002).

After her commercial career, she started working as a freelance journalist in 2002 . In 2003 she began an internship at Jackwerth Verlag in Berlin-Kreuzberg , working for the Siegessäule magazine and in the editorial team of the then newly founded magazine L-Mag . After her internship, she worked as an L-MAG editor at Jackwerth Verlag until 2008 . In 2008 she took over the editor-in-chief of all online media for the Siegessäule , L-MAG , Du & Ich , Queer Travel , Out in Berlin and Siegessäule Kompass publishing houses .

In 2012 Gudrun Fertig founded the company Special Media SDL GmbH with Manuela Kay and took over the media and online presence of Jackwerth Verlag. Both are currently (as of 2016) managing majority shareholders of the GmbH .

Journalistic work

The journalistic emphases of Gudrun finished on the areas of history and politics , economy, diversity , LGBT - culture and women's football . She was the first in Germany to interview the then DFB President Theo Zwanziger on the subject of "Homophobia in Football" (2008).

Lesbian-feminist engagement

For the first time she got involved in feminist and lesbian politics in 1996 in the group "Lesbians in Action" (LIA) in Regensburg. In 1997 she helped organize the Berlin Lesbian Week. At the end of the 90s she worked for the Lesbian Radio in the Offener Kanal Berlin.

She also moderates numerous discussions, takes part in podiums and gives lectures on the topics of homophobia in football , the media and homosexuality , as well as lesbian visibility.

These include: B. the moderation of the conference “Inclusive Passion” (2010) of the Senate Administration for Integration, Labor, Social Affairs, the moderation of the panel discussion “Breaking taboos - The new way of homosexuality in football” at the 11 mm Berlin Film Festival (2010), the moderation of four “ Round Tables Against Homophobia "of the State Office for Equal Treatment Against Discrimination at the Senate Administration for Labor, Integration, and Women (2011) or the 6th symposium" What lesbian women dream of "of the umbrella organization for lesbians and old people (2015).

She also gave the lecture “Media by and for women” (2009) at the Heinrich Böll Foundation . At the first career fair for gays and lesbians, Milk-Messe (2010), the lecture “Beyond Playboy and Brigitte” and as part of a seminar for journalism at the University of Leipzig, together with Andreas Hergeth, the lecture “Gays and lesbians: when sex is not a private matter is ". Gudrun Fertig initiates and moderates national events such as panel discussions, readings and think tanks on feminist, lesbian and queer topics.

Awards

  • 2001: “Queer against Right”, civil courage award of the Berlin CSD eV, as part of the political group
  • 2015: Augspurg Heymann Prize , together with Manuela Kay, which has been awarded annually to courageous lesbian women by the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Lesben in NRW since 2009 to promote the visibility of lesbian women (renamed the Prize for Courageous Lesbians - CouLe in 2017).
