Unrest about sponsorship money

At the beginning of Special Olympics Germany 2017, research by ARD reporters about the acquisition of sponsorship money for Special Olympics Germany through a placement company Metatop for three regional associations became known. According to ARD, only a little more than a third of the sponsorship money actually went to the regional associations for years. Two thirds of the sponsor angels are said to have kept Metatop. Metatop, however, firmly denied the allegations.

The State Council of Special Olympics Germany (SOD) issued a statement on March 6th about sponsorship money. It was about standards and principles of sponsorship money. The SOB regional council decided to specify and update the fundraising standards, which are based on the donation seal of the German Central Institute for Social Issues . The chairman of the state council, Frank Diesener, explained: “We guarantee that all of our committees, associations and organizations adhere to our uniform standards. These become a binding part of the accreditation agreement ”.
