Heidi Specogna
Heidi Specogna (born January 5, 1959 in Biel ) is a Swiss filmmaker . She lives in Berlin.
life and work
She attended the journalism school in Zurich and then worked as a journalist for various German-Swiss press media. From 1982 to 1988 she studied at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin . Since 2003 she has been a lecturer at the Ludwigsburg Film Academy for documentary film.
Latin America and Africa are the focus of her filmmaking. In her 1991 documentary Tania la Guerillera she portrayed the Bolivian guerrilla fighter Tamara Bunke and in 1996 the Tupamaros , a guerrilla movement from Uruguay, in the documentary of the same name . In the documentary The Short Life of José Antonio Gutierrez she follows in the footsteps of José Antonio Gutierrez in Guatemala and Mexico. Pepe Mujica - The President is a portrait of the former Uruguayan President (2010–2015), guerrilla and flower grower José Mujica .
The documentary Carte Blanche , released in 2011, focuses on the Central African Republic . It is about investigators who collect evidence on behalf of the International Criminal Court in the case of Jean-Pierre Bemba and interview witnesses about the war crimes of 2002 and 2003. Cahier africain documents victims of these war crimes over several years and follows them in the chaos of war that broke out between Muslims and Christians in this country in 2013.
The Solothurn Film Festival dedicated the special program “Rencontre” to Heidi Specogna in 2020.
