The Spendiner See is a 21-hectare lake within the municipality of Dobbertin in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

geography

The poorly structured body of water has maximum dimensions of about 635 × 525 meters and forms a bay to the south. There begins the Jasenitz , the outflow of the lake, which carries the water through the Lüschow into the Dobbertiner See . The Spendiner See receives tributaries through two ditches on the west and east banks. The eponymous place Spendin is about 1.2 kilometers from the west bank. The northeast bank and parts of the south bank are forested. The lake is surrounded by a belt of reeds and trees. The deepest point with over five meters is in the eastern area of the lake basin.

history

The Spendiner See was first mentioned as See Spandine in 1237 during the expansion of the property of the Dobbertin Monastery between Dobbertin and Lohmen. Before 1790, the Spendiner See was also leased from the monastery's own lakes to the highest bidder, usually for six years for fishing and winter cane advertising.

In March 1908 there was a major pike plague in Spendiner See, which quickly spread to the Lüschow and also destroyed the entire pike population there.

fauna

The fish species eel, pike, carp, tench and whitefish are found in the lake.
