The Spicy Roots are a music group from Schwieberdingen that was founded in 1994 and is one of the most famous ska bands in Germany.

Band history

Just one year after it was founded in 1994, Spicy Roots was on stage as support for Laurel Aitken and Desmond Dekker . The performances attracted a lot of attention, so that the band played nationwide concerts with numerous international ska acts in the following years.

In 1997 the band recorded the first EP Export , which was released under the SOS Records label. The songs Spirit of '69 and Ska Fever made the hit lists of the ska scene. In 2001 the first long player One More followed under the record label Grover Records . This received attention from the cover version Coconut by Harry Belafonte . There were tours through all of Germany and Europe. After releasing their second studio album Get Ready , Spicy Roots toured Japan in 2008. With the album Just In Time and the hymn Ska my # 1 followed concerts in Moscow and at numerous festivals, such as B. the Irish International Ska & Reggae Festival and the Mighty Sounds Festival in the Czech Republic.

The fourth long player Penny Black was created in 2019 with the establishment of their own recording studio .
