Hospital Church of the Holy Spirit (Kulmbach)
The Spitalkirche Hl. Geist is a church in the old town of Kulmbach .
history
It was built in 1738 and 1739 according to the plans of the builder JG Hoffmann. Previously, the Elisabethenkapelle, which was mentioned in 1468 and belonged to the Elisabethenspital, stood here. The Bürgerhospital, which was converted into a senior citizens' home, is now located on the site of this hospital.
The church tower was built in 1749. The church corresponds to the type of an Upper Franconian margrave church . A pulpit altar and wooden galleries were built into the interior .
In the 19th century, both Protestant and Catholic services were held in the church. The building was rebuilt in 1885. Renovations were carried out from 1968 to 1973.
organ
The organ of the hospital church was built in 1973 by the organ building company Paul Ott (Göttingen). The slider chests -instrument has 21 registers on two manuals and pedal . The game actions and stop actions are mechanical. The instrument was overhauled in 2010 by Thomas Eichfelder .
