Spitzmühle is a residential area in the town of Strausberg in the Märkisch-Oderland district in Brandenburg .

Geographical location

The living space is on the western edge of the district of Strausberg. It borders on the Fängersee in the north and on Bötzsee in the south . It is part of the conservation area, Strausberger- and Blumenthaler forest and lake area .

history

From archaeological investigations it is known that there was probably a fortified settlement as early as the 7th century, but it was probably not developed into a Slavic rampart . A field name Burgwall was already drawn in files of the Strausberg Council from the 16th century .

However, the name goes back to a mill that was located between the connection of the two lakes. It was first mentioned in a document on January 6, 1367 in the possession of Strausberger Jacob Haßilsberg and can therefore also be considered the first mention of the residential area. This mill appeared in 1788 in the first volume of the statistical-topographical description of the Kurmark Brandenburg , which was published by August Heinrich von Borgstede . In it, he described, among other things, the course of the Fredersdorfer Mühlenfließ and pointed out that after entering the Fägersee, “the Spitzmühle passed from it, which drives it”. At the beginning of the 1930s, gravel is said to have been extracted from the castle wall, which is said to have damaged the wall. This corresponds to a report from 1925. It was criticized that the castle wall had already been severely eroded by human and natural influences. Part of the sand removed in this way was used to build the foundation for an inn. At that time the wall was around 51 m high and around 13 to 17 m wide.

In the 21st century, the residential area is dominated by approx. 45 bungalows, which are used by Strausberg residents for local recreation. A building site in the city of Strausberg from 2013 criticized the fact that “the island-like location between the lakes and the rivers, which once dominated the area, can hardly be experienced by visitors because the properties are difficult to see”. At the same time, the plan emphasizes that the "vast majority" make a "neat impression".
