Overview map of the nature reserves around the Lengener Meer in the FFH area "Lengener Meer, Stapeler Moor, Baasenmeers-Moor"

The Spolsener Moor is a former nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality of Zetel in the Friesland district .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG WE 176 was around 245  hectares . Most of it was part of the FFH area “Lengener Meer, Stapeler Moor, Baasensmeer Moor”. In the west it bordered directly on the nature reserves " Lengener Meer " and " Stapeler Moor ", in places in the north on the landscape protection areas "Am Zollweg" and "Ruttelerfeld". The area has been under nature protection since September 6, 1986. On September 1, 2016, it was incorporated into the newly designated nature reserve “ Stapeler Moor und Umgebung ”. The responsible lower nature conservation authority was the district of Friesland.

The former nature reserve lies roughly between Westerstede and Friedeburg . It places a raised bog under protection, which has been greatly altered by peat extraction as part of the East Frisian central bogs, which formerly extended over large areas, and which is to be renatured after rewetting measures that began in the mid-1970s . In the northern area of the nature reserve there is a mosaic of moor forest , moor heath and grassland areas . To the south, there are moist moor heaths in the area of former peat cuttings, which are often flooded with water, as well as pipe grass meadows.

The former nature reserve is the habitat of flora and fauna, some of which are typical of high moorland. Here you will find marsh orchid , moor stablilies, round-leaved sundew , narrow-leaved cottongrass as well as moor birch forests, whistle grass , broom heather , bell heather , rosemary heather and crowberry . The former nature reserve is the habitat of the Nordic moss damsel , moor and common frog , adder , forest lizard , teal , common snipe , water strider species and tree falcon . Moist grassland areas are of great importance for meadow breeders such as the lapwing . Parts of the former nature reserve are grazed with sheep and goats for care.

In the north of the former nature reserve there is a nature trail with several information boards.
