On June 5, 2019, THQ Nordic announced the remake / remaster SpongeBob Squarepants: Battle of Bikini Bottom Rehydrated for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch.
The new edition also offers a multiplayer mode in which you and friends face challenges. Teamwork is important in order to use the characters' skills tactically. In addition, the game should appear completely in German.

At the beginning of the game you can decide whether SpongeBob will wake up on the right (the right) or on the left (the wrong) side of the bed - because that depends on how the game continues:
- Wrong side: In this mode, Gary is kidnapped! Everything the perpetrator left behind is a tape of the perpetrator, in truth it's plankton. Now SpongeBob is forced to do what is required and embarks on a fast-paced adventure.
- Right Side: This mode offers the same levels as the wrong side. The only difference is that there is no reference to the actual story; that is, Gary is not kidnapped in this mode. There are also minor deviations, e.g. B. you play the level on the jellyfish fields not with Patrick, but with Sandy.
