Last year's winner was Mohamed Abouelghar , who started the tournament in second place. He was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Arturo Salazar . In the final, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez , who had won the British Open just a few days earlier , and Diego Elías faced each other. Rodríguez won the final 11: 7, 11: 5 and 11: 6.
The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 16 players, four of which were starting places for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded. A wildcard was not awarded.
At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize pool was $ 50,000.
