After his mother dies and he is wanted by the police for a bar fight and loses his job, Evan decides to travel to Italy as a backpacker . There he meets the cosmopolitan, charming student Louise in a picturesque village, with whom he falls head over heels in love. Evan decides to stay in Italy for the time being and takes a job on Angelo's farm for accommodation. It quickly becomes clear that the highly intelligent Italian is keeping a dark secret. Bizarre incidents are piling up in the sleepy town. Louise begins to act strangely and strangely. Evan is puzzled and when he finally gets to the bottom of the matter, he finds Louise transformed in her apartment. She tells him that she is 2,000 years old and that pregnancy turns into a monster every 20 years and then back into a young girl, making her practically immortal. Because she is now pregnant by Evan, she will soon have to transform again. After recovering from the horror, the two decide to spend the remaining time together. You run off to Naples . There, Louise shows him her family in the ruins of Pompeii , who perished when Mount Vesuvius erupted. She tells Evan a lot about her life and what she has found out about her transformations in the meantime. Louise thinks she can be the same after the transformation if she really loves Evan. She warns him that after the transformation she is no longer herself and that she cannot control herself. Immediately before the time comes, the two sit in a remote place. When Louise begins to transform, Evan is visibly unsettled. At the same time the earth is shaking and when he turns around, he sees that Vesuvius is smoking. When he looks down at Louise, she is back to the girl he fell in love with.
