Spronser lakes
The Spronser Seen ( Italian Laghi di Sopranes ) are a group of high alpine mountain lakes in the Texel group in South Tyrol . The ten bodies of water are located at the upper end of the Spronser valley in the south-eastern part of the mountain range, a sub-group of the Ötztal Alps . They were eroded by glaciers in a relatively limited space at altitudes between 2117 and 2589 m or left behind in the rock of the old gneisses , the granite gneisses and the mica slate . The largest body of water is the Langsee ( 2384 m ), which is animated by char and in which the owner of Auer Castle in Tirolo has fishing rights. A particularly good overview of the area that is protected in the Texel Group Nature Park can be obtained from the summit of the Spronser Rötelspitze ( 2625 m ). All ten bodies of water are also designated as natural monuments .
The following table provides an overview of the ten lakes with coordinates as well as information on the height, depth and area of the individual bodies of water.
