The top seeded Australian siblings Natalie and Rachael Grinham became world champions after a final victory over the New Zealanders Louise Crome and Lara Petera . The game ended with 9: 7, 9: 4 and 9: 2. The Grinham sisters did not lose a set during the entire tournament.
The field of participants consisted of eight double pairings, each of which competed against each other with four pairings in two groups in round robin mode . The group winners and runners-up made it to the semi-finals and played out places one to four in the knockout system .
