Srđan Baljak ( Serbian - Cyrillic Срђан Баљак ; born November 25, 1978 in Belgrade ) is a former Serbian football player .

Career

Striker Baljak began his career in 1996 with Partizan Belgrade . Already in his first year with the Belgrade team he could look forward to winning the national championship. Further league victories followed in 1999 and 2002. In 1998 and 2001 the team won the Serbian Cup. In the 2000/01 season he was loaned to the second division Teleoptik Zemun , a farm team from Partizan. In 2002 he moved for a year to the Japanese first division club Consadole Sapporo , with whom he was relegated from the J. League . Since 2003 Baljak played for the Serbian club Budućnost Banatski Dvor , which merged with Proleter Zrenjanin in 2006 to form the Banat Zrenjanin . In the first year after the merger, the club was eighth in the Serbian SuperLiga , the left-footed Baljak was the top scorer with 18 goals. In June 2007 he signed a three-year contract with the German Bundesliga relegated 1. FSV Mainz 05 . There he settled in well and was the second best attacker behind Félix Borja with six goals in 2007/08 . The following year his hit rate increased and Baljak scored eleven goals; he rose with Mainz in the Bundesliga. The Serb made his debut in Germany's top division on matchday 5, September 12, 2009, against Hertha BSC . Until the winter break of the 2009/10 season, the attacker had three more short appearances without having played a game for the full time.

In January 2010 Baljak moved to MSV Duisburg , where he received a contract until 2012. In the second half of the season he was used in all games and was also the top scorer of his team with six goals. For the 2010/11 season, Baljak was appointed the new MSV captain by coach Milan Šašić . On the 3rd match day Baljak scored both goals in a 2-1 home win against TSV 1860 Munich and thus his first "double" for the MSV. In February 2012 he extended his contract with the MSV until June 30, 2013.

For the 2013/14 season he moved to Wormatia Worms . A year later he was signed by the league promoted TSV Schott Mainz . With the Mainz team he rose to the end of his career in the 2016/17 season as a league champion in the Regionalliga Südwest.
