Cities is a village and district of the municipality of Balgstädt in the Burgenland district in the south of Saxony-Anhalt .

history

After the defeat in the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig , Emperor Napoleon rested on October 21, 1813 with Gottfried Lautenschläger, magistrate and justice of the peace, in the Lautenschläger homestead.

Cities and Großnitz belonged to the Wettin , later Electoral Saxon office of Freyburg until 1815 . location

The village is located between Möllern and Großernitz around four kilometers southwest of Balgstädt on the edge of the Dead Täler nature reserve in a side valley of the Unstrut . An expansion of the nature reserve in the cities area is being planned.
