history

The origins of today's municipal hospital in Nettetal lie in the districts of Breyell and Lobberich .

Breyell

In 1894, nuns of the Franciscan Sisters of St. Mauritz took over the outpatient care in Breyell and Schaag. Previously, nursing took place in private premises. A donation from the Niedieck family enabled the laying of the foundation stone of the Lambertus Hospital in Breyell in 1897, which opened in 1898 with 50 beds. In 1944, the Lambertus Hospital served as a reserve hospital or first aid station. In 1959 the building was structurally expanded and had 60 beds, six years later it was expanded to 100 beds.

Praise

In Lobberich the building permit for the Marien-Hospital was granted in 1883, which was inaugurated and opened in 1885 with 18 "sick" - under the direction of the cooperative of the nurses of St. Francis of St. Mauritz. The first expansion measures were carried out in 1891, and in 1911 the house was expanded from 26 to 43 beds. In 1964 the house was rebuilt with 140 beds. The last sisters of the order left the house in 1982.

Merger

In 1970, under the sponsorship of the city of Nettetal, the two houses were merged.

In 1991 a new building was built for the areas of intensive care unit, operating theaters, surgical outpatient department, bed control center, central sterilization, physical therapy, transport to the patient lying down and emergency room. In 1992 the house was converted into the "Städtisches Krankenhaus Nettetal GmbH". A replacement bed house was put into operation in 1996. After a year of construction, the outpatient surgical center on the 4th floor of the ward building started operations in 2002. It was set up specifically for the Center for Arthroscopy and Endoprosthetics (ZAE), which specializes in joint surgery. From 2004 to 2006, in addition to the redesign of the entrance area of the hospital, the hospital's acute outpatient departments (emergency department, surgical outpatient department, internal admission) were combined to form the central patient admission (ZPA). A second outpatient surgery center with twelve beds and two operating units on the ground floor went into operation in 2008. In 2009 the physiotherapeutic department of the hospital was transferred to the subsidiary "NetteVital GmbH". Associated with this was the construction of an independent building wing. A year later, the hospital's new cafeteria, the NetteBistro, opened in the basement of the main building on an area of around 300 square meters.

In February 2018, construction work began on a new T-wing, which will provide 3500 square meters of space for the expansion of medical infrastructure.
