Adam Poprawa
Adam Poprawa (born February 16, 1959 in Breslau ) is a Polish literary historian , literary critic , music critic , poet and prose writer . In his scientific research he is mainly concerned with the literature of the 20th and 21st centuries, especially the works of Stanisław Barańczak , Miron Białoszewski and Jarosław Marek Rymkiewicz .
Life
Poprawa attended high school in Wroclaw. After graduating from high school in 1978, he studied Polish language and literature at the University of Wroclaw . As a student he made his debut in 1981 with the poem Szymon, Mewy, Tempus manet, aeternitas fugit in the magazine Refleks . He earned his master's degree in 1983 and then worked as a librarian and briefly as a high school teacher. In addition, he began in 1986 to publish reviews and literary criticism in various magazines. In 1990 he was employed at the Institute for Polish Literary History at the University of Wroclaw. There he received his doctorate with the thesis Kultura i egzystencja w poezji Jarosława Marka Rymkiewicza . Since the end of the 1990s he has also dealt with music criticism and in 1999 headed the CDn section of the monthly Odra . From 2008 to 2018 he was a member of the jury for the Wroclaw Poetry Prize Silesius . In 2014 he completed his habilitation with the thesis Afirmatywne i krytyczne funkcje formy w polskiej literaturze nowoczesnej .
He lives in Breslau.
