Karol Maliszewski (born July 27, 1960 in Nowa Ruda ) is a Polish literary critic , literary historian , poet , prose writer and translator .

Life

Maliszewski attended high school in Nowa Ruda and graduated from high school in 1979. As a high school student he made his debut with the poem Piosnka jej , which was published in the monthly Radar in 1978 . After graduating from high school, he briefly studied Polish studies at the University of Breslau , but broke off his studies and worked in 1980 as a cement mixer in Warsaw and as a harvest worker in the Sudetes . The following year he began studying philosophy at the University of Wroclaw, where he obtained his master's degree in 1987 . In addition, continued to publish poetry and successfully participated in several poetry competitions. After completing his studies, he first worked as a primary school teacher in Nowa Ruda and as an editor for local and regional newspapers. From 1993 to 1995 he took up postgraduate studies in Polish studies at the University of Opole . In 2000 he became a lecturer in Polish literature at the Giant Mountains College ( Kollegium Karkonoskie ) in Jelenia Góra and, from 2001, led workshops at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow . At the University of Wroclaw he received his doctorate in 2003 with the thesis Na tropach nowej świadomości poetyckiej. O poezji pokolenia “brulionu” i następców under the doctoral supervisor Jacek Łukasiewicz . From 2005 to 2007 he lectured philosophy at the Polish-Czech School of Business and Sport Collegium Glacense in Nowa Ruda. Since 2008 he has been a research assistant at the University of Wroclaw. In addition, from 2010 to 2014 he was a reviewer of the television program Revolwer Kulturalny , which was broadcast on TVP Wrocław . Since 2016 he has been a member of the jury for the Silesius Wroclaw Poetry Prize .

He lives in Nowa Ruda.
