The municipal Lindengymnasium Gummersbach is a grammar school in the city center of Gummersbach , which was created in the 2014/2015 school year through the merger of two traditional grammar schools, the grammar school Moltkestrasse Gummersbach and the grammar school Grotenbach Gummersbach .

The Grotenbach Gummersbach grammar school was also founded in 1764 as a "Rector's School" under the leadership of the businessman Johann Peter Heuser . The facility was open to both boys and girls. 20 years later, in 1784, a public girls' school was attached. After Marie Stiefelhagen founded a private secondary school for girls in 1867, it was taken over by the city of Gummersbach in 1889. In 1921 it was recognized as a lyceum. In 1971 the school building was inaugurated in its current form, in 2012 the completely renovated new building was inaugurated. In the school year 2008/09, 628 pupils attended lower secondary level and 290 pupils attended upper secondary level.

Technical facilities

The high school was equipped with interactive whiteboards from VS and Promethean in all subject rooms and in some classrooms. Laptops and terminals were also available, which were operated via the school server. In addition, the high school had 16 Lego Mindstorms robots with various accessories that were used in computer science classes, a robot group and various projects and competitions, and well-equipped sound technology that took over the acoustic support for school concerts and other events.

STEM work

A cooperation agreement with the University of Applied Sciences Cologne Campus Gummersbach has existed since 2003, and was renewed in 2012. The students will z. One of the facilities of the grammar school is the affiliated social service, which has its origins in the former girls’s grammar school. Fundraising campaigns for those in need have been carried out around the world since 1960. These campaigns have been supplemented by an annual Christmas bazaar since 1967.
