Stéphane Babaca

Stéphane Babaca , also Babeka , Babaqa (born January 22, 1919 in Karemless , Iraq , † April 6, 2007 ) was the Chaldean Catholic Archbishop of the Erbil Archepark in the autonomous region of Kurdistan in Iraq.

Life

Stéphane Babaca was ordained a priest on May 15, 1941 . In 1969 he was by Paul VI. appointed archbishop of the newly founded Archeparch Erbil . He was ordained bishop on December 6, 1969 by Paul II Cheikh , Patriarch of Babylon of the Chaldeans . Co- consecrators were Emmanuel Delly , then Auxiliary Bishop, and Gabriel Koda , Archbishop of Kirkuk.

In 1994, Pope John Paul II granted his age-related resignation .
