The Størmerfjellet is a 1,298 meter high mountain of Svalbard -Archipels in the Arctic Ocean .
Origin of the name
Størmerfjellet was named after the Norwegian mathematician and geophysicist Frederik Carl Mülertz Størmer (1874–1957). The name was suggested by geologist Walter Brian Harland (1917-2003) when he published a map of Svalbard in 1952 .
Location and surroundings
Størmerfjellet is located in the northeast of the main island Spitsbergen in the southwest of Ny-Friesland . It is located immediately east of the Austfjorden , the southern part of the Wijdefjorden , and is enclosed by the two glaciers Smutsbreen and Cambreen.
