St-Jacques is the Roman Catholic parish church of Perros-Guirec in the Côtes-d'Armor department in Brittany . The church has been classified as a Monument historique since 1901 and is characterized by the French monuments administration as a rare example of Breton Romanesque .

history

The three-nave Romanesque nave of the church was using the rose granite of pink granite in the 12th century. The arches are supported by massive pillars, the capitals of which are each designed differently and depict scenes from mythology and Arthurian legend. Below is a depiction of Arthur's fight with the holy Efflamm against a dragon who, according to legend , should have settled near Lannion in the shelter of the rock of Roch Hirglas .

The nave is now vaulted by a wooden barrel, but consoles on the pillars indicate that originally a stone vault could have been present. The long choir was built in the Gothic style in the 15th century, with the tower and the open vestibule added to the west. The two transept arms were built in the first half of the 20th century.
