The Catholic Church Saint-Michel in Salon-de-Provence , a town in the French department of Bouches-du-Rhône in the region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur , built in the 13th century. The church below the castle has been a protected cultural monument ( Monument historique ) since 1983 .

history

The church, consecrated to the Archangel Michael , dates from the transition from Romanesque to Gothic . A tower was added in the 15th century, which served as a clock tower until the 17th century.

architecture

The carved tympanum of the west portal with relief panels is remarkable . In the middle is St. Michael with two snakes at his feet, underneath the Lamb of God appears and the remaining images show floral ornaments.
