St-Sernin (Bouriège)
St-Sernin is a Roman Catholic church in Saint-Sernin, a district of Bouriège in the Aude department in France . The church is no longer used regularly for church services.
history
The church, consecrated to Saint Saturninus of Toulouse , is essentially a Romanesque building and was mentioned on March 1, 1318 in connection with the establishment of the diocese of Alet , which was built from ceded territory of the Archdiocese of Narbonne . St-Sernin was there in a bull of Pope John XXII. referred to as a parish and subordinated to the archpriest of Haut Razès.
Probably after restoration measures after the Huguenot Wars , the church of St-Sernin presents itself today as a rectangular hall church with a straight choir closure. The west facade is completely unstructured and is supported by three buttresses . A bell gable rises above the facade. A sacristy is attached to the church in the east .
