St. Alto (Unterhaching)
The St. Alto Church is a Roman Catholic parish church of the Archdiocese of Munich-Freising in Unterhaching . It is located in the present center of the parish and bears the patronage of Saint Alto .
history
The growth of the community Unterhaching to the northwest at the beginning of the 1930s made a second parish church necessary next to the previous Romanesque parish church of St. Korbinian . In 1932 the parish vicarie St. Alto was consecrated by Michael Cardinal von Faulhaber . In 1946 it was raised to an independent parish and thus separated from the mother parish of St. Korbinian. In the course of a further expansion, a new projecting transept and a new side church tower were built in 1960 . A comprehensive interior renovation took place in 2016. Due to its central location in Unterhaching, St. Alto is today the main parish of the Unterhaching Parish Association.
Building description
The floor plan of the west parish church of St. Alto follows the shape of a Latin cross , whereby the building appears relatively long compared to the height of the room due to its expansion in 1960. The sacristy , rectory and the 28 m high church tower are connected to the wide transept in the north .
The simple, bright interior is spanned by a vaulted wooden ceiling and filled with light through simple round windows. Above the entrance portal there is a small organ loft and a round window around which the organ has been built so as not to cover it up.
organ
Today's organ was built in 1985 by the Josef Garhammer company from Weilheim in Upper Bavaria . It has 19 registers on two manuals and a pedal as well as fully mechanical sliding drawers . The disposition is as follows:
