Branderode, St. Andreas

The Church of St. Andreas is a Protestant church in Branderode , a district of Hohenstein in the Nordhausen district. The Protestant parish of Branderode is part of the southern Harz parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

The church is a simple hall church with a polygonal church choir , which was built around 1700 on the ruins of a previous building. The western part of the nave and the substructure of the 9 meter high church tower are made of rubble stones. A half-timbered tower and a roof hilted on one side are characteristic of the tower .

The tower was renovated in 2001, followed by renovation work on the foredeck in 2008/09.

A twisted column in the anteroom, which serves as a stand for the gallery, is unusual for the interior of the church . Presumably this comes from another church, as it does not fit in the total height and has apparently been shortened. The cut piece is next to the column.
