St. Anna (Düsseldorf)
St. Anna was a Catholic church in the Düsseldorf district of Niederkassel in the Archdiocese of Cologne .
history
The first previous church was built in 1891 as an emergency church, which was consecrated to Saint Anthony of Padua . After the completion of the Antoniuskirche in the neighboring Oberkassel , this church was rededicated to Saint Anne . In 1938 a tower was added to the emergency church.
Today's Anna Church was built between 1967 and 1968. The church was consecrated on October 19, 1968. The old Anna Church was demolished in 1969. Before that, its neo-baroque Antonius altar, its old pulpit and two altar panels from the 16th century were integrated into the new Anna church. In 1975 windows by the artist Sigrid Kopfermann were installed in the new Anna Church.
Negotiations are currently ongoing about a different use. The last service was celebrated on August 26, 2016 in St. Anne's Church. In 2017/18 the demolition of the church in favor of residential buildings is announced.
