The church

The village church of St. Bonifatius is located in the Nennsdorf district of the municipality of Bucha in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish of Magdala / Bucharest in the church district Jena the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

The hall church was built in the 11th century on a slope terrace above the village and consecrated to Boniface .

To the building

It corresponds to the Romanesque architectural style and has a nave with a retracted apse with archers and a cupola. The church door and the base of the baptismal font are original.

Inside, a triumphal arch separates the apse from the nave . It rests on a simple fighter plate . The house has a flat ceiling, on the walls there is a three-sided gallery with a small organ from around 1800. In 1743 the Romanesque windows were replaced by larger rectangular ones.
